Erzya Settlements can be found wide spread in the Central Volga Region, cf. table below. Since approximately only one third of the Erzya speaking population resides in the territory of the Mordovian Republic, it will be easier to refer to regions where major Erzya speaking settlements can be located: Erzya Bashkortostan, Erzya Chuvashia, Erzya Mordovia, Erzya Nizhni Novgorod, Erzya Orenburg, Erzya Penza, Erzya Samara, Erzya Saratov, Erzya Tatarstan, Erzya Ulyanovsk.
