The arts is a broad subdivision of culture, composed of many expressive disciplines. It is a broader term than "art", which as a description of a field usually means only the visual arts (comprising fine art, decorative art, architecture, and crafts). Art is a simulation of feelings, expressions, and ideas, which is used as a tool to provoke, inspire, and create those feelings, expresions, and ideas in an audience. The arts encompasses visual arts, literature, the performing arts, including music, drama, film, dance, related media, and by some definitions, other areas such as fashion. A more complete list is given below. There are many more disciplines that are not listed above. What is listed above are the major arts.

Is it reasonable to double major in engineering and digital arts?
Q. I'm really strong in math and sciences, and it would definitely be a lot more useful to society for me to become an engineer. However, I've just discovered a passion for digital arts, whether it's modeling something 3-D in Maya or filming, editing, and adding effects to a video. Would it be reasonable for me to double major? Would a major in engineering and a minor in digital arts be better? Would an engineering career even be helped by training in digital arts?

A. a lot of people go on to do different careers then what they major in so you could major in engineering and ultimately end up as digital artist but the bottom line is to major in what you want to do and what you enjoy doing regardless of the benefit to society and you can always go back to school hope this helps :)

How often do you have presentations in liberal arts colleges?
Q. i am going to a top 25 liberal arts college and i was wondering if there is a lot of presentations you have to do. Do you have to read your papers out loud to the class? How active do you have to be in class discussions in liberal arts colleges?
Asked by unknown - Fri Aug 28 00:52:08 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. That completely depends on the professor, not the type of school. I do a lot more presentations at my university than I did at my liberal arts college - in 4 years there, I did one for an anthropology class (summarizing my paper), one for a physics class (here's a cool effect) and one to defend my honors thesis. Whether or not you have to participate in discussions completely depends on the type of class. Some encourage that, others actively discourage discussion during class.

Difference between a bachelor of arts degree and a bachelor of science degree?
Q. I am considering a Graphic Design degree, currently shopping 2 private schools. One offers a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, the other offers a Bachelors of Science in Graphic Design. What's the difference?
Asked by Jodi F - Wed Mar 25 14:37:53 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Many people think one is "better" than the other or that it's all about the subject you study or etc... They're wrong. It's really not all that complicated. A Bachelor of Arts is an academic degree that requires nearly all of the coursework be completed in the liberal arts fields. The major is almost always a liberal arts field of study. (math and physics are, for example, liberal arts as are English, history, sociology, etc...) A Bachelor of Fine Arts is not a Bachelor of Arts. A Bachelor of Science is an academic degree that requires about half of the coursework be completed in the liberal arts and that the other half be either in the liberal arts or applied sciences. (engineering, business, education, etc... are applied sciences)… [cont.]
