Q. at home wax kits do they work??? if so what brand

A. There are three kinds of wax kits that I've come across. One requires the use of the microwave and if the wax is too hot it can burn the skin. The other wax kit consists of strips on some kind of backing that you place on your skin and the heat from your body and hands as you rub it in place makes the was pliable enough for you to remove the backing. The third is sugar wax and you need muslin or linen strips to remove the hair. I found the last method the messiest. They both adhere to the hairs on your body and once the wax has a chance to cool you are to hold an area on your skin down and rip/pull the wax in the opposite direction of hair growth pulling out the hair by the roots. Either way it can be painful the first few times and the… [cont.]

Where can I find soft paraffin wax?
Q. I'm newly in the fire-breathing business, and I've been using other incendiaries to breathe fire, but I've heard from several others in my business that soft paraffin wax (liquid) is generally the best to use. Does anyone know where to buy it? Can I get it at Wal Mart? And how much does it approximately cost?

A. Yes, you can find it at Walmart. It's usually labeled "Lamp oil." Cost is a few bucks for a 32 ounce jar.

How do you remove solid paraffin wax from a paraffin holder that does not heat up?
Q. The paraffin machine is broken and will not heat up. It still has a good amount of praffin left in it. Can you possibly freeze it like candle wax so it just pops out?
Asked by wjw925 - Sun Dec 28 10:50:27 2008 - Cleaning & Laundry - 4 Answers - Comments

A. If the machine is broken, freezing isn't going to do any more damage. Put it in the freezer and pop it just like you do the candle wax. You may need a firm object to help get the break started - like a screw driver.

A. take the p-trap off the sink, the little "U" shaped pipe under the cabinet. Chances are any wax that did make it down the drain solidified when it hit the water in the trap.

What additive(s) should I add to a mixture of paraffin and petroleum jelly in order to make the resulting wax?
Q. I am trying to find out which compound is needed to make a wax mixture more "sticky". I am currently working with paraffin and petroleum jelly. I mix these in a pan and heat them to melting point. Afterwards I let it cool down and there's my wax. The wax works for what I want, but it is a little too "oily". I would like to make it stickier. What can I add to the mixture when I'm cooking it to make the resulting wax "stickier"? Thanks.

How many times can you reuse paraffin wax?
Q. I want to buy a paraffin wax spa and what to know how many times you can reheat the wax that it comes with.
Asked by dweave - Wed Aug 20 13:16:05 2008 - Other - Beauty & Style - 1 Answers - Comments

A. You can reheat it as many times as you wish. When you dip your hand and let it cool... throw out the stuff that cools on your hand. If you put it back, your parafin will be full of nasty dead skin..So the parafin level will get lower and you just have to keep adding to it as it gets low. Hope that makes sense.

Should I use paraffin wax to silence a squeaky wood slat bed?
Q. Has anyone used this method successfully? None of the slats are screwed in as per the instructions. Where would I even buy a block of paraffin wax other than online and is there any specific one I should get? Any ideas or tips would be very much appreciated. Sorry for the confusion. I mean the slats aren't screwed in because the instructions didn't say to screw them in. But I've read that other people have screwed them into the frame in an attempt to constrict movement.
