How do I remove all materials (textures) from an object in Maya?
Q. I want to delete materials from the entire scene. All objects. If I could reset all materials to default (and be left with Lambert1, that would be fine) I've been using 3ds Max for years and know how to easily reset the material palette, but can't seem to find it in Maya. I'm using Autodesk Maya 2011 x64 bit

A. To remove all textures from an object (mesh) in Maya, simply assign the Lambert1 shader to the object. To remove all unused textures from the scene do the following: By hand: To remove all textures from the scene, you can do it by hand through the Hypershade (Window> Rendering Editors> Hypershade) delete them from the the Materials, Textures, Utilities and Shading groups tab inside the Hypershade Automatically: Go to File > Optimize Scene Size (options) and click the "Optimize Now" button that is next to "Rendering Nodes"

What will happen if we continue to remove solid materials from the ground and turning it into vapour?
Q. Will this alter the earth's orbit or axis, thus causing the annihilation of man? Nothing to do with green house gas.

A. It does not really change the weight of the earth. Matter is not being destroyed it is just changing states from a solid in the earth to a vapor in the atmosphere.

What process do minerals go through to remove impure materials?
Q.
Asked by pink_star158 - Thu Nov 13 03:48:24 2008 - Earth Sciences & Geology - 2 Answers - Comments

A. Minerals grow by crystallisation or precipitation at specific temperatures and in suitable chemical and physical environments. As a mineral begins to form from solution it forms in a crystalline state which will expell some other mineral species which may also be crystallising. However, not all minerals may be expelled, resulting in the formation of intergrowths, inclusions and coatings along crystal surfaces. Minerals which grow in an environment favourable to slow development will most likely expell other species. Those which grow rapidly, in an environment in which one or more other species with a similar crystallisation temperature are present, will often form intergrowths and inclusions because each crystal is developing quickly, and… [cont.]

What's the most efficient way to remove the corn wax from apples?
Q. So I've been reading that apples are coated with some sort of corn derivative, in order to keep them shiny looking at the grocery. My most recent batch of apples tasted horrible, so I decided maybe it was the corn wax. Before, I've tried soap and warm water, but it didn't remove the film at all. So far, the only successful way I've found is to drag a sharp knife along the apple, as if I was shaving it. This removes the waxy film, but isn't very efficient. Anyone know a better way?

A. Yep, here's a few ways: The easiest way is to peel off the apples' skins. You may use a potato peeler or a small knife. Although there are other ways to remove the wax from the skins, some claim that the skins have unusual tastes and textures. Hence they prefer the skin to be removed. One of the popular ways is to use the apple cider vinegar. You can pour a small amount in a container and wipe the apple with the vinegar using a paper towel or clean cloth. Wash the apples after wiping and they are safe to be eaten. You can replace the apple cider vinegar with normal white vinegar and apply the similar wiping method. If you wish to use water, you can dip the apples in lukewarm water and gently rub the skins if necessary. Another way is to… [cont.]

How do I remove citronella candle wax from waterproofed fabric?
Q. The other day we accidentally spilled hot wax from a burning citronella candle onto the side of one of our garden furniture cushions. I'm afraid to try and iron it out in the "traditional" cleaning method because of the citronella oils in the wax (I don't want to remove the wax but leave a grease stain on the cushion.) The fabric is light green colored and is most likely cotton treated with some sort of waterproofing material. The cushions are able to be unzipped so we can remove the upholstered cover from the cushion. Thanks for your help!

What is oxide, how does it form on copper, and what materials can remove it?
Q. i have a sci-pro to do and can find little info, these questions will help a lot for filling up my paper ^3^
Asked by K. c .0 - Mon May 19 09:50:16 2008 - Chemistry - 3 Answers - Comments

A. Oxide is the Oxygen ion. When oxygen reacts with a metal, it forms a negative ion with a negative 2 charge. On copper, oxide often forms when copper is exposed to air or water. The outer layer of copper reacts to form copper oxide, and ionic compound with the formula Ca O. This is a hard pale green substance. An example is the Statue of Liberty which is made of copper but has a layer of copper oxide to give it its green colour. Copper oxide can be removed using a Displacement Reaction. This involves heating copper with another, more reactive element. This is relatively easy because copper is so unreactive. Commonly, copper is purified using hydrogen, which forms water when it reacts with copper oxide leaving pure copper. However, this… [cont.]

is evaporating water enough to remove toxic materials from it?
Q. if i evaporate sea water, will it turn into pure water when it cools or still have toxic stuff in it,,, like gas from boats?
Asked by - Sat Feb 12 18:11:43 2011 - Chemistry - 4 Answers - Comments

A. When you evaporate sea water, the pure water which is absolutly pure and boils at exactly 100 degress celcius evaporates away leaving the impure substances like the salt, sodium, toxic waste etc. So when you evaporate something you are removing the water and are left with the toxic waste which can't be evaporated because its not water.

Are there any materials that remove grease from food after cooking besides paper towels?
Q. I am looking for a cheap durable product that would absorb grease off of my bacon and other food i serve at my establishment.
Asked by - Wed Oct 28 02:42:41 2009 - Cooking & Recipes - 6 Answers - Comments

A. Shell is right, and for a cheaper version of butcher block, use cut open brown bags from the grocery. My Mom did this, you should have seen the grease that blotted out onto the paper! She also used several sheets of newsprint, but be sure and not use the comics! Don't know if your county's food rules will let you use these things in your establishment, better check. Most places think that a wire rack or a piece of metal with many holes in it sitting over something to catch the grease is adequate. Have seen comercially produced items like this on tv, probably available from a kitchen or restaurant supply store.
